A long time with little to show on the log but a great amount in the shop

We have been using the shop blog to list out all of the new arrivals. However, for the last month or so we have been involved in refitting the shop to expand its shelf space so that we could get a load more new items from some unusual manufacturers. This refitting is now complete and we can list all of the great new ranges available:

We now have Fine Molds 1/72nd scale Millenium Falcon in stock. We will post some photos of the kit later this week but it must be seen to be believed - at £140 its a bargain!

Tasca Firefly - still the kit to buy - we continue to get deliveries almost weekly direct from Japan.

We now have 2 suppliers from Hongkong so we should be able to offer the new and the unusual ahead of most others in the UK - see the AFV Flak Scheinwerfer AF 35125, at £14.30 and their 1/48th Scale Early Tiger I at £12.99, for instance.

New Web Site

We have recently created a new version of the web site. Instead of being manufacturer centric, the new web site is built around a powerful search engine. We have also expanded the range of stock available. he new site should make it much easier to find what you need.

What's new in stock
The main news is that we are now stocking items from Fujimi, Fine Molds and Voyager. The list will grow over the next few weeks. The main item is the 'famous' Fujimi Phantom.

Bronco Humber Scout Cars have become very scare as the importers have run out of stock. We are fortunate in having access to stocks in France and are expecting a delivery this week. Most of them are sold but we still have a few left. The same suppler is sending us some Trumpeter Sea Hawks - again out of of stock in the UK currently.

The Dora Rail Gun - WOW!! Plus Kinetic - a NEW Manufacturer

This week we have a lot of new things across the board - kits - diorama accessories - decals, etc.
We have managed to get just one of the mighty Dora Rail Gun - all 6' (2m) and 26kg of it. At £349.99 its not cheap but in years to come you will wish you had one. Unfortunately, with only one, it is strictly 'first come - first served'!
Our friends at Lion Marc in HongKong have introduced us to a new manufacturer from China - Kinetic. Their first kit is a really nice 1/48th scale Thunderstreak. I will be making one of these so keep checking my personal blog at http://gentlescalemodelling.blogspot.com/.

Lots since last time

I have been very busy and Valerie has had a cold so we haven#t managed to find the time for the blog recently. We have had a lot of new things in. These include some exciting items from Adlers Nest, CMK Star Dust weathering pigments, new AFV Club and Dragon plus a wide range of brass sheet, tube and rod. Of special mention must be the superb Hobby Boss 1/48th scale aircraft - Rafale A, 2 versions of the A-10 and a Hornet. The detail on the kits is exceptional.

Of special note is the AFV Club Night Fight Set - it contains a 7.5cm Pak40 plus a 251/22 Ausf.D and a 251/1Ausf. D falke - all equipped with infra-red lights. Considering that a single 251 costs £22.95 then two complete kits plus a Pak40 for £44.99 is a bargain.

Advanced notice - The Trumpeter Dicker Max is due this week so order now. Its sure to be popular.

Not too much this week - we have restocked on the MIG Oil Paints so we now have the full range back in stock. We have ordered more Fireflies, which we expect in about 7 days time. We are expecting to order the new AFV Club 251 UHU and Night Fighting boxes. Expect these to be great value. The magnificent Eduard Royal Class FW 190 A8 is now in stock. Hasegawa has just released another of their very popular 1/72nd Lancasters - this time with the Tall Boy bomb as per the Tirpitz raid. What is here is the new Nordic Edge book. This is a really inspirational book from a bunch of Swedish modellers that make armour models that are just outstanding. This book is a must have at £23.50.

What's Coming?

Well, its all on a plane at the moment but hold your breath until Thursday 22nd or Friday 23rd.
First off we have the obvious - yet another box of Tasca Fireflies. There are only 3 left out of this box and this will make close to 100 kits imported this month! As we keep saying - if you want one, get on the phone - 01473 464311. We can't put them on our web site as they are moving so fast by mail order that we can't keep the numbers right.

Fireflies, Harleys, Easy Kits and Lion Marc

Well yet more Fireflies have come and gone. We have now sold 56 in three weeks! More are already on an aeroplane and should be here by Wednesday or Thursday. We are taking advanced orders on the web site. The Lion Marc delivery arrived and what came was fantastic quality. Of course, all of the Firefly barrels sold in 2 days. We are placing a much larger order with Lion Marc and extending the order to incorporate a much of the rest of their range, but deliveries are likely to take upwards of 3 weeks. We are taking advanced orders for the Firefly barrel. We shall also be taking advanced orders for the MG34 barrel (which is tiny but superb) but not until Tuesday.

The new Accurate Miniatures range of 1:100 pre-painted easy kits are in - Me.109, P-51d and Spitfire MkV - all three in two sets of markings at £4.99 each.

The latest 1:6 Harley Davidson kit is fantastic - 15" long, 150 metal parts and pre-painted - an absolute MUST for the Harley fan.

The Trumpeter Morser and Fahrgestell (Munitions Schlepper) are in the new Trumpeter expert range. The Fahrgestell has 6 (yes 6) sheets of etched brass and a couple of turned aluminum shells for the Morser. The Morser itself is a deployed version - that is, no rail carriers or track. It also includes the turned shells and a set of crew figures.

First restock of the New Year

The only really new kit in the shop is the fantastic Italeri Elco PT boat in 1/35th. When made up, the model is 700mm long!!! The kit is in a fairly robust box with a great graphic design and both the box and the contents are of very good quality: seven sprues in injection plastic, a small plastic bag containing anchoring cables for the torpedoes and screws to fasten upper and lower hull, two gun barrels in turned metal (40 mm Bofors and 37mm M4), one photo etched fret, one decal sheet one instructions handbook (36 pages) and a great booklet with reference material (47 pages).

We have managed to get a stock of two of the really great Ampersand Modelers Guides.

A Modelers Guide to the Tiger Tank and
A Modelers Guide to Jagdpanzer.

Both of these books contain a wealth of photos of the real thing plus articles on modeling them using a wide range of base kits. These are a great resource for the serious modeller.plus, they have been out of print for a long while so we are very pleased to have obtained supplies of new copies.

Changes to the Web Site
We have made a big change to the way that we present categories in the shop web site.
We used to have to create a list of items to go into each category. This was supposed to be done weekly but sometimes got missed when we were processing the weeks orders. As some of you know, on a Friday we are often in the shop until 9pm processing new stock and mail orders. The new system generates the categories automatically. The new items are picked up automatically at 3am every morning when the internet site refreshes its search information.

The other change affects the way we present the new arrivals. We previously had to generate a list of new items for the web site and hope that you find them. Now, when you enter the shop site, you see a list of all of the different categories of items such as Aircraft, Armour, etc. You will notice that there is a new category placed at the head of the table of categories. This category is labelled 'Latest Arrivals'. Click on this and you will see a list of further categories that contain all of the new arrivals.

This change will enable you to see very quickly what is new.

Trumpeter New stuff and other things

We have the new Trumpeter Gannet T-2 and Wellington Mk III arriving tomorrow although I think we have sold out of the Wellingtons before they even arrive.

We have managed to restock our lead wire in the small sizes so we again have 0.2mm, 0.3mm and 0.4mm sizes in plenty.

We are restocking on the Andrea FAQ for Figure Painting and we have the new Dog Tag 1/48th scale figure sets coming in. I will post some pictures of them when they arrive. Coming with them are the last 6 issues of Military Miniatures. If you saw either the Nashorn or the Kubelwagen editions we had recently then you will know these are worth snapping up.

Paul Casson has managed to find me a stock of the fantastic book - Modeler's Guide to the Tiger Tank - A complete and comprehensive guide to modelling the Tiger I and Tiger II in 1/35th scale By Patrick A. Stansell and published by Ampersand. This has been out of print for some time so to get hold of new copies is great and at £20 its a bargain.

Tomorrow, we also have the Classic Airframes B-57 in 1/48th, another 1/72nd Buffalo and Lockheed Lodestar, plus a restock of the new MPM FR9 Meteor. Not quite a classic set of releases but interesting none the less.

Don't forget we have the Revell Gato and there is a new book about the Gato coming in before the end of the week as well. We will probably do a discounted offer on the pair. Watch this space.

I have sorted out most of the categorisaion on the web site and also fixed the irritating error when coming back from PayPal. You should now see a thank you page and get an automated e-mail.I am currently (in between selling and ordering) working on a much more sophisticated search engine. The backbone work is done - just need the time to get it onto the web pages. Maybe I can do this next Monday and Tuesday as I seem to have wangled a couple of days holiday! Fw190 A-5 and other new things

We couldn't get any more A-8s but the new A-5 has arrived. We took delivery of 15 of those on Friday. We also had some of the new Revell Gato submarine - now that is a large box!

Good news for Fleet Air Arm fans - the next Trumpeter Gannet has arrived. This one is the T2.

For all of you figure modellers, the Andrea FAQ for figure painting is now in stock. I have to be careful here because one of these is an Xmas present for me so I can't even open them to see what they are like. Those who have looked are very impressed. We have also take delivery of more Wolf and Hornet figures in 1/35th plus additional Hornet heads so the range is growing.

Iwata airbrushes and compressors continue to sell at an astounding rate. If you have ever put off using your air brush, now is the time to switch to Iwata. I promise you, airbrushing will be a thing of pleasure once you make the change. A top cup Eclipse is £115 and the special deal for the Eclipse and a Sprint compressor is £291.99 - saving you £23 on the price of the airbrush.

LifeColor full range

Having loved LifeColor paints myself I am really pleased that we are now able to get the whole range. I put the rack up today so we now have 160 colours, primers, thinners, etc., plus all of the new camouflage packs - German WWII Tanks 1/2, Luftwaffe 1/2, NATO and Italian WWII Armour plus the Tensechrom weathering filters - which are really great.

All 15 of the Fw190 A8 sold out within 4 days. We are speaking to Germany on Monday and hoping that we can get the new 5 - if ot, we will try and get some more A8. Maybe we will get both!

Wolf 1/35th military figures, Hecker & Goros 1/48th metal figures (which are fatastic) and Hornet Heads are the latest figure sets to arrive. Wolf seem to be difficult to keep in stock so check with us if you want any. There have been no new kits since the big Dragn release of last week. except for an injection moulded 1/144th Vickers Viscount in Eagle Airways markings.

Great News for December

1st Dec. We have the Dragon M2/M2A1 Half Track, the Dragon Sherman III and the Special Edition DX-06 Firefly Vc arriving. Then on Monday or Tuesday we have 15 Eduard Fw-190 A8 coming in. Loads more new stuff has come in over the last couple of weeks - check here over the weekend for the full list.

We now have the full 225 colour range of Vallejo. Next week we start loading up with Lifecolor so check the web site or give us a call on 01473 464311.

The idea of this blog is to keep you in touch with all that is happening at SBX Model Shop.
